The band and I have something much more creative and exciting than this, but I really wanted to post this shot because to me this shoot should not have happened at all. I left my Pocket Wizards on the table... no sync cords for my lights... meaning no way to use any off camera flash. . . well not entirely true, but who in their right mind would use a long exposure for a band shot.. ME!

This is by no way the proper way to get the look I wanted but leaving the shutter open left me enough time to manually fire all of my lights and get enough ambient to fill the background.

I would like to thank everyone in the band for staying still for this shot :) ( its no easy task getting them to not move around... :P )

and all the lighting is manually fired on the guys to freeze them and various subtle accents.

END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!

So this is it... 2012.. The last year before KABOOM.. KERSPLAT.. Or even FRASPLOOSH. That’s right!, in my mind the end of the world sounds alot like an original episode of Batman. No matter what it sounds like, whether it’s true or false... everyone at least for a second has said or at least thought... What if?

I have been saving my buns off and slowly building for something that as a photographer is not just wanted but needed. Not a 5 star trip to an overcrowded resort, or a party cruise where you come home and don’t remember it, but a chance to explore... a chance to put myself into other peoples lives around the world and bring back the best images I can. I plan to head over to the U.K with a euro pass backpack and camera. There are a whole bunch of people that have invited me to crash and be a part of their families, I will be snapping the whole trip, doing portraits of everyone who helped me out along the way. Once I conquer the U.K it’s off to Australia and New Zealand at some point and looking for people who would be willing to help me out with a possible couch in return for an Automotive Portrait, Family photo, Headshot, creative portrait... (Insert Long list here). I Have applied for working abroad programs and will eventually make my way back to this continent and take a train back home just in time for FRASPLOOSH! . . . This is my answer to the what if.... :), this is my 2012 Apocalyptic End of the world Adventure!

I will be leaving early in June, and until then I am offering some seriously sick deals. Website Neglect.

So with my movement and main focus shifting towards the wonderful world of rich painted metal formed around perfectly fitted wheels and fitments that are analyzed and perfected to the millimetre. My website is lacking in proper portfolio material.. that just isnt right.

Once I get alot of my new work taken care of and interweb friendly, I will be tackling a website re-model and possible complete face lift.

My plan and goal is to make the site less of a portfolio and more interactive. more options to be specific and just more integrated in general.

I am really looking forward to changing it up this time. and I hope it straightens out any and all kinks that are currently residing.

I first met Sam at Scrape by the lake 2010, His car was rocking a solid set of black wheels.. But after some mild work to the body adding a gold candy coat to the black and rocking a fresh set of shoes he contacted me about shooting his lovely machine. I was also assisting Rick Denham who is a very well known local photog on an engagement shoot (also taught me everything I know about Off Camera Flash), He needed a nice set of wheels for the shoot and.. well I couldn't pass up the chance to shoot at our local airport with an all hand polished Lockheed :) So Sam had kindly agreed to let his car be in Ricks engagement shoot and I took full advantage of the location ( unfortunately we couldn't really drive around too much as the airport is still operational and the Lockheed wasn't easy to move around :P but who could complain!

The shots aren't all poster worthy, some are lighting set up shots ( hence the softboxes being in them) but I left them in there anyway.. I have edited them in a broad array of my styles to showcase what I can offer to future clients not sure what style they wanted.

So as some of you know (most of you don't), I am slowly working on a personal project putting together Images and Some personal words into a photo magazine style Coffee Table book. Most of the images that are going into it have no subjects.. no names.. just an artistic visual book, the kind that you pick up because you're curious.. the kind that might open up some inspiration..

I have always been fascinated with fine art photography, Its ability to challenge our brains.. and the challenge as a photographer to create for the most part.. art out of nothing but what we have to work with around us. It forces us to step outside our comfort zone and think in textures.. in light and shadows.. in colour tones and depth and how we put all of those together.

When I first started showing a serious interest in photography I heard someone say " There is no greater feeling than to pick up a camera an have the whole world change in front of you" .. That has stuck with me and will always be in the back of my head. That statement couldn't be more true, without a camera you enjoy the sights and take everything in at face value.. but when you hold a machine that can stop time.. it forces everyone to start viewing every thing, every person.. with a different set of eyes.

Today I went for a little walk to the creek out back of my house, for the most part its just a creek.. no different than any other wooded area with a stream.. but luckily there was a camera in my hand.. ;)

Nine-Oh-Five BBQ.

Well I dont know alot of guys in this club but I thought I would swing by and take a peak, after all it was super local... but of course I slept in on sunday and when I showed up most of the action and cars had gone. I feel bad now.. would have liked to cover more of the cars.

Here are some shots from the 20 minutes I was there. .. But right after we met up with a close friend to create a shot I have been wanting to do for awhile. (its at the end.)

Went out with the boys and found a room completely dark.. full of junk.. fired up the modeling lamps on the strobes and got to making a pretty nifty set.

Shoot went pretty well.. and well... SCHOOLS OUT.. means that SUMMERS HERE!! :)

Rob is the owner of this amazing truck.. he is a very skilled individual with an eye for what looks great, Not to mention an awesome mother F***ER. When I first saw this truck it was laying in the weeds at Scrape by the Lake 2010, I was walking around with my camera just seeing what caught my eye at first glance... This truck did more than just that. I remember my jaw dropping, eyes widening and a grin similar to a 5 year old who's just had a fire truck honk and wave at him. I immediately scoured for the owner, after finding Rob we chatted for a bit and set up a time shortly after to shoot his truck. Driving around with his truck was like Chuck Norris giving us a piggy back with all its fame, You cant go anywhere without everyone from any and all age groups giving him the thumbs up or smiling and pointing. We took the truck to a spot I have used before but seemed to best fit the mood of this truck, and a gas pump I had been wanting to shoot something at for awhile. while shooting at the gas pump... security pulled around to ask us why we had an international at a diesel gas pump made for big rigs.. but she could barely give us crap once she got a good look at the truck and was really nice about us taking pictures, actually she hung out and talked our ear off about International trucks.

Ninety Percent of these shots were taken using only two Nikon speedlights (Bare bulb) and a more than craptastic 18-70mm lens. (which literally stopped working right after the shoot). With the addition of some Auto portrait based gear this year.. Rob and I will be heading out again for another set and really aiming to take some bad ass images.

Now I had some issues with the RAW files and they were giving me a real headache.. which is why these photos have taken soo long... but after much effort I have finished the rest of the set and got a list of specs from Rob which im sure everyone is dying to look over and see what all is in this thing!

Mirror to the sun

After Shooting sports for nine days in a row, I was feeling the need to get out and do some Personal junk. So with the moon being the biggest its been in 18 years it was a no brainer what the focus of my nighttime adventure was to be. So below are a few from last night and after driving around I have found a couple locations for next time :)

So I haven't updated.. thought about.. or even looked at my blog in a very long time..

I was going over some design ideas.. and think I will be switching to a Word press blog as it is just going to better suite me..

which is part of the reason for the lack of posting. I will be back up and blog happy once I change things around for 2011. I have spent the last year really trying to learn as much as I could, I cant believe its only been a year since I picked up a camera.. so many things happened in 2010, It was an amazing year for me! but this is a year that I can put what I have learned into action... With hopes of some new equipment upgrades and my brain going a million miles an hour!.. subscribe and keep watching for some seriously cool stuff.

2011 brings you:

- A fine art magazine from yours truly.
- More of a focus on my car photography.
- Getting into a bit of high fashion. ( its a blast to shoot)
- A couple "controversial" based discussion photos.
- and hopefully some publicized material.. plus I will be blogging more about my personal work as a photographer and just put up photos of events that happen in my life :)

While I was doing a charity concert "Rock out for cancer", I had the chance to listen to a band by the name of "Mrs Johnston"... after hearing them I quickly approached the guys to do a shoot, this is the first ever band I have photographed.. a little nervous, yes. but these guys are just as easy to hang out with as they are to listen to.. wicked shoot.

Scrape By The Lake 2010

We have a very big and very wicked car show that happens right here in St.Catharine's every year. I have been attending Scrape since it has been in Port Dalhousie, which is a pretty long time. With getting into Automotive photography I was really looking forward to attending this year. I had emailed Joe Sud, who owns Sud Skates and runs scrape, He was very excited to have me shoot and allowed me some sweet media passes. The show this year was very hot,very sun beaten and by the end of the day many people were walking pieces of bacon but at least it became overcast towards the end. The hop off was fantastic this year.. huge turnout from both cars..drivers.. and spectators. The newly added "radical" class made for a tail standing crowd pleasing finish!

I would like to thank my best friend Jordan Hudson for being my assistant and my flash with legs for putting up with my demanding ways and the heat!

Second I would like to thank everyone who puts sooo much time and thought into turning a simple vehicle into a work of art.

Last, Mr. Joe Sud. Thank you for getting me in and letting me go anywhere I please.

I Had a chance to get away from the city for a bit and head up to Kearney ontario with my girlfriend Charlotte, to a fellow photographer Joel smiths family cottage.. it was a blast and nice to relax. I had never done any long exposure water stuff before and it always appealed to me, so this was my chance to fool around and after the weekend of drinks.. sun.. and tubing! we went to a place called Screaming heads in the Midlothian ridge.. the whole weekend was great and we snuck in a couples shot of my G/f and i, as well a wedding and family portrait of joel and his family which i will be posting up shortly. but here are just a few water shots and randoms!

Cubed Surroundings.

So The other day I met up with a group of brock students who had asked if I could help them out with documenting a school project and even before I knew what they had to do.. I was totally in for it. Shooting something different like this is something I really love doing, you gotta think outside the cube every now and again .. I find the best way is to take on interesting ideas and this is definitely one of them.

The Idea behind the class project was to build and document art that would be found in our everyday surroundings... they scoured and opted to cube our city. it was a really fun time going out at midnight and watching them arrange useless junk into conformed 3d squares..

Wedding: Erin & Jon

I recently had the opportunity to be included in a perfectly quaint and peaceful Niagara On The Lake wedding. Erin and Jon who live in Michigan first contacted me about shooting and when I was told it was a small little wedding at the gazebo in N.O.T.L I was so excited because I love doing small weddings, they had the perfect amount of loved ones.. in the perfect lakeside location. There is just something warm, simple and stress free about being around a perfectly petite wedding like theirs!

So i have been doing alot of thinking and have come up with a couple new plans for the recent months to come..

I will be digging into ramping up my Fine Art prints and showcasing my idea of putting together a series of galleries that have to do with overlooking the details....

Each gallery will have a theme and in each you will have the ability to snag anything you like to hang in that perfect corner or something to make your house a little different. The theme and idea for my up and coming galleries are as follows.

Full series will be titled.. " Its all around you."

First gallery is dedicated to the details that are above your eye sight, the things that you overlook due to not always staring up... the title will be " Its over your head" and will have things such as abstract roof tops.. and will have a complete neck stuck looking up perspective.

The second will follow the same guidelines but is titled " Walking over top." again it will be a set of all details missed due to literally walking right over them.

It will be a challenging but fun way to share all things we over look in life and in your every day too busy to notice schedule... its the little things that matter and my goal for this project is to capture those little things and let you enjoy them without having to stop..reschedule.. push back.. fit in.. so you can smell the roses.

all photos will be offered for you to purchase so you can take in the little things in the comfort of your own home

Trials, no error.

Now most of the time the term trial and error is something everyone lives by.. but when you are an athlete in the world of " Trials" biking, its a term that you cant afford to have.

I met up and caught up with a friend from a very long time ago, it was a blast just catching up.. but the real fun was to be had a short while after catching up. Trevor Bodogh and I went to high school together and i can remember him jumping on his bike out side of school and thinking to myself ... HUH? ... I dont get it, but after more than Ten Thousand hours of practice he has challenged every boundary that has been placed in front of him. After Enduring a Sun that seemed to have some sort of hatred towards us we put on quite a show, together working to bring you some wicked shots from the crazy life Trevor lives.
